Accutane

Isotretinoin or more commonly known as Accutane is a drug used in the treatment of acne. Four to five months of Accutane treatment usually leads to the clearing of acne. This medication is very effective for nearly all types of breakouts. It is usually used for a severe, scarring acne.




How does Accutane work?


Isotretinoin is a retinoid that works by decreasing the production of oil on your skin, slows down the growth of skin cells that can clog pores, and kills the bacteria in your pores that can cause acne and inflammation.

This medication became FDA approved in 1982 however they are some side effects when taking these medications.




The most common side effects of Accutane are:


dry skin, itching, rash and dry nose . However some serious side effects include organ damage, vision and eye problems, Diabetes and depression. women are advised not to take isotretinoin if they're pregnant due to the risk of birth defects.


Where can I get accutane?

Dermatologist will only prescribe

isotretinoin after all other methods of acne treatment fail.
